Tanita will receive a $2,500 cash prize and a vacation internship at leading Brisbane PR agency Cole Lawson Communications.

The prestigious annual scholarship is open to all final year undergraduate communication students in programs within the School of Journalism and Communication (SJC) at the University of Queensland.

Ms McPherson credited her win to the knowledge she had gained at university.

“I would like to thank the SJC for partnering with Cole Lawson Communications to offer this scholarship, but more than that, I would like to thank the school for all of the knowledge, skills and experience that I have been given here during my time at UQ,” she said.

“Finally I would like to sincerely thank Cole Lawson Communications for providing this scholarship that is so much more than a certificate and a cheque; today Cole Lawson Communications is honouring me with the Public Relations equivalent of Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket.

“I am being invited to step inside and see the inner workings of one of Brisbane’s industry leaders, to work alongside people with a wealth of experience, and to become a part of something new, something bigger and something even more rewarding at Cole Lawson Communications.”

Dr John Harrison, director of the SJC’s undergraduate programs described Tanita as having an excellent record of academic achievement in the Bachelor of Communication program, as well a high level of motivation and commitment to a career in public relations.
